The Integrated Waste Management Board (IWMB) collects data on the solid waste volume received by sanitary landfills. The IWMB is statutorily committed to reducing solid waste 25% by the end of 1995 and 50% by the year 2000, relative to 1990 solid waste volumes.

Solid waste disposal volumes are decreasing, and the IWMB will attain its 25% reduction goal by 1995.

The disposal volumes displayed have been normalized for increases in population, and indicate a 22% reduction in volume for 1994 relative to 1990.
