Overall, the Survey results report that the responding management agencies are using a variety of environmental management techniques. Geographic information systems are most widely used and the new technique of place-based or ecosystem management appear s to be solidly in place.
Environmental indicators are being used to enhance all of the environmental management efforts in the responding agencies.
A limited number of natural resources agencies responded to the Survey (five officially declined to participate), but those responding use the environmental management techniques as actively (except for comparative risk assessment) as environmental prote ction agencies.
